1991 Young Australian of the Year World Champion Archer
DOB: 1 / Jan / 1969
From: South Australia
I grew up in rural South Australia where my family fostered in me an awareness and appreciation of the natural world. Initially a love of the outdoors and being self reliant manifested itself in a career in Archery. This led to a World Championship win, 5 Olympic teams, countless National Championships, and eventually an Olympic Gold Medal. In 1994 I began a course of Jewellery Design at the University of South Australia - graduating in 1997. After exploring numerous materials and techniques I now am focusing on the process known as Lost Wax Casting. In this process a piece is first carved in wax, and then used (sacrificially) to create a plaster mould into which molten metal is poured.
